Understanding Billing Cycles
A billing cycle is the period between subscription charges. ShopKatalog offers flexible billing with monthly and yearly cycles. Understanding your billing cycle helps you manage payments and avoid surprises.

How Billing Cycles Work
Monthly Billing Cycle
Subscription Start
You subscribe to the monthly plan on, let's say, January 15
First Charge
₦2,500 is charged immediately on January 15
Active Period
Your shop is active for 30 days (Jan 15 - Feb 14)
Next Charge
On February 15, another ₦2,500 is charged (same date each month)
Continuous Cycle
This repeats every month on the 15th until you cancel
Yearly Billing Cycle
Subscription Start
You subscribe to yearly plan on January 15
First Charge
₦24,900 is charged immediately on January 15
Active Period
Your shop is active for 365 days (Jan 15, 2024 - Jan 14, 2025)
Renewal Notification
30 days before expiry (Dec 16), you get a renewal reminder
Auto-Renewal
On January 15, ₦24,900 is charged for the next year
Important Billing Dates
For Monthly Plans
Same date each month as your subscription start date
Immediately. If failed, subscription will expire
30 days. Exactly 1 calendar month from billing date
On billing date. Available in your Billing section
For Yearly Plans
Anniversary date of initial subscription
30 days before expiration (email sent)
7 days before expiration (final warning)
On billing date, unless manually cancelled

Understanding Your Charges
What You're Charged For
You're charged for your ShopKatalog subscription, nothing more:
- Subscription Fee: ₦2,500/month or ₦24,900/year
- No Setup Fees: Free to create an account
- No Transaction Fees: You keep 100% of customer payments
- No Hidden Fees: No surprise charges
- No Overage Charges: Unlimited products, orders, customers
What You're NOT Charged For
- ✓No commission on sales
- ✓No payment processing fees
- ✓No storage fees for products or images
- ✓No customer fees
- ✓No order processing charges
Managing Your Billing
View Your Billing Information
- Go to Account Settings → Billing
- See your current plan and billing date
- View upcoming charges
- Access past invoices
Update Your Billing Address
- Go to Billing → Billing Information
- Click "Edit" button
- Update your address
- Click "Save"
Download Invoices
- Go to Billing → Invoice History
- Find the invoice you need
- Click "Download PDF"
- Save to your computer
Upgrade or Downgrade Plan
- Go to Billing → Subscription
- Click "Change Plan"
- Select your new plan
- Review changes and prorated amounts
- Confirm changes
Understanding Prorated Charges
When you change plans mid-cycle, we use proration to charge fairly:
Example: Upgrade Monthly to Yearly
Scenario: You're on monthly (₦2,500) with 15 days left in your cycle. You want to upgrade to yearly (₦24,900).
How Proration Works
- We calculate the unused portion of your current plan
- You receive a credit for the unused days
- The credit is applied to your new plan
- You only pay the difference (if any)
- Your new billing date resets to your upgrade date
Common Questions
What if my billing date falls on a weekend?
Your billing date is the same calendar day each month, even on weekends. However, the actual charge and bank processing might take 1-2 days.
Can I choose a different billing date?
Currently, your billing date is set to your subscription start date. You can cancel and resubscribe on a different date if needed.
What happens on the last day of February for February subscriptions?
If you subscribe on Jan 31, your billing date becomes Feb 28 (or 29). On following years, we bill on the 28th to keep it consistent.
Are there any setup fees or hidden charges?
No. We charge only for the subscription plan you choose. No setup fees, no hidden charges, no surprise costs. Full transparency.
Can I get an itemized receipt for tax purposes?
Yes! All invoices are available as PDF in your Billing section. They include all tax information and can be used for tax filing.
