What Are Account Settings?

Your account settings allow you to manage your personal information, security preferences, and notification settings. Keeping your account information up-to-date ensures smooth communication and secure access to your shop.

How to Access Your Account Settings

  1. Log into your ShopKatalog account
  2. Click on your profile icon in the top-right corner
  3. Select "Account Settings" from the dropdown menu
  4. Or navigate to /dashboard/settings

Account Information

Personal Details

Full Name

Your display name used throughout the platform. This appears on your profile and in communications.

💡 Tip: Use your real name or business name for professional communication with customers.

Email Address

Your primary email for account notifications, password resets, and important updates.

⚠️ Important: Changing your email will require verification. Make sure you have access to the new email address.

Phone Number

Optional but recommended for two-factor authentication and SMS notifications.

Security Settings

Change Password

  1. Go to Account Settings → Security
  2. Click "Change Password"
  3. Enter your current password
  4. Enter your new password (minimum 8 characters)
  5. Confirm your new password
  6. Click "Update Password"

✅ Password Requirements:

  • At least 8 characters long
  • Include uppercase and lowercase letters
  • Include at least one number
  • Include at least one special character (optional but recommended)

Two-Factor Authentication (Coming Soon)

Add an extra layer of security to your account by requiring a verification code when logging in from new devices.

Notification Preferences

Control how and when you receive notifications about your shop and account.

Email Notifications

  • New Orders: Get notified when customers place orders
  • Product Reviews: Know when customers leave reviews
  • Payment Confirmations: Subscription payment receipts
  • Shop Updates: Important platform updates and features
  • Marketing: Tips, promotions, and newsletter (optional)

Browser Notifications

Get real-time alerts in your browser when important events happen (requires permission).

Privacy Settings

Profile Visibility

Choose what information is publicly visible on your shop and profile.

Data & Privacy

  • Download Your Data: Request a copy of your account data
  • Delete Account: Permanently remove your account and data
  • Privacy Policy: Review how we handle your information

Common Questions

Can I change my email address?

Yes! Go to Account Settings → Profile and update your email. You'll need to verify the new email address before the change takes effect.

I forgot my password. What do I do?

Click "Forgot Password" on the login page. We'll send a password reset link to your registered email address.

How do I delete my account?

Go to Account Settings → Privacy & Data → Delete Account. This action is permanent and cannot be undone. All your shops, products, and data will be permanently deleted.

Can I have multiple accounts?

While technically possible, we recommend using one account and creating multiple shops instead. Each account requires a separate subscription.

Security Best Practices

  • Use a strong, unique password that you don't use elsewhere
  • Enable two-factor authentication when available
  • Keep your email address up-to-date
  • Review connected accounts regularly
  • Never share your password with anyone
  • Log out from shared or public computers
