What Are Shop Settings?

Shop settings control the basic information and configuration of your online store. These settings determine how your shop appears to customers and how it functions. Properly configured settings help customers find and trust your business.

How to Access Shop Settings

  1. Log into your ShopKatalog dashboard
  2. Navigate to Dashboard → Shops
  3. Click on the shop you want to edit
  4. Click the "Edit Shop" button
  5. Or go directly to /dashboard/shops/[shop-id]/edit

Basic Shop Information

Shop Name

Your shop's display name that appears throughout the platform and to customers.

Best Practices:

  • Keep it short and memorable (2-4 words)
  • Make it relevant to your business
  • Avoid special characters or numbers
  • Check if the name is available before finalizing

  • Fashion Haven
  • Tech Gadgets Store
  • Bloom Flowers

❌ Avoid:

  • My Shop 123
  • Best-Store!!!
  • Shop@Home

Subdomain

Your unique shop URL: yourshop.shopkatalog.com

⚠️ Important: Your subdomain cannot be changed after creation. Choose wisely!

Subdomain Requirements:

  • 3-30 characters long
  • Lowercase letters, numbers, and hyphens only
  • Cannot start or end with a hyphen
  • No spaces or special characters
  • Must be unique across all shops

Shop Description

A brief description of your shop that appears on your shop's homepage and in search results.

Writing Tips:

  • Keep it concise (50-160 characters)
  • Highlight what makes your shop unique
  • Include key products or services
  • Use clear, simple language
  • Avoid marketing jargon

Example:

"Premium handmade jewelry and accessories for modern women. Free shipping on orders over 10,000."

Business Information

Business Type

Select the category that best describes your business:

🛍️ Product Based

Selling physical or digital products to customers (retail, wholesale, digital goods, etc.)

✂️ Service Based

Offering professional services, consultations, or expertise to clients

💡 Tip: Choose "Product Based" if you sell any physical items, digital downloads, or goods. Choose "Service Based" if you primarily offer services, bookings, or consultations.

Location

Your shop's physical location helps customers know where you're based and can improve local search visibility.

Country

Select your country from the dropdown list

State/Province

Select your state or province

City

Enter your city name

Address (Optional)

Full street address for customer pickup or delivery

Shop Status

Your shop can be in one of two statuses:

ACTIVE

Active

Your shop is live and visible to customers. Products can be viewed and ordered (subscription must be active).

INACTIVE

Inactive

Shop is hidden from public view. You can activate it anytime from shop settings.

💡 Shop Status vs Subscription Status

Shop Status is whether your shop is Active or Inactive (visible/hidden).
Subscription Status is your billing status (Trial, Active, Expired, Suspended).

Even if your shop status is ACTIVE, it won't be accessible to customers if your subscription is expired or suspended. You need both an active shop status AND an active subscription for your shop to be publicly accessible.

Common Questions

Can I change my shop name after creation?

Yes, you can change your shop name anytime from the shop settings. However, your subdomain cannot be changed.

What happens if I change my shop location?

Changing your location updates your shop's information immediately. This may affect local search visibility and shipping calculations.

Can I temporarily close my shop?

Yes, you can set your shop status to "Inactive" to temporarily hide it from public view. You can reactivate it anytime.

How do I delete my shop?

Contact support to request shop deletion. This action is permanent and will remove all products, orders, and data associated with the shop.
